Meet Our Pastor, Chris Smith
A native of Cottondale, Alabama, Chris joined the staff at First Baptist Church of Haralson as Pastor in June 2022. He has been married to his wife, Autumn, since 2000. Together they have three children: Haley, McKenzie, and Landon. Chris is currently taking seminary courses through New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Chris' passion is to be equipped by God to make fully-trained disciples (Luke 6:40). Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men." (Matthew 4:19).
Meet Our Youth Pastor, Shane Whitlock
Shane has lived just miles from the church his whole life. He received Christ as his Lord and Savior and followed in Believer's Baptism in 1990 while attending Fairview Baptist Church. He is a graduate of Fayette County High School and Gordon College with an Associate in Science. He has served 27 years in a local Law Enforcement Agency.
He is married to his wife of 23 years, Amy Whitlock. Together, they have three children: Brianna, Shane, and Jacob. His hobbies include archery, camping, fishing, hunting, and music.
In the summer of 2018, Shane and his family joined First Baptist Church of Haralson. They began serving in the church as volunteers in the Youth as chaperones. They also assisted in VBS and other community outreach events. Shane was ordained as a Deacon in October of 2022. Shane has been the Youth Leader for the last couple of years. He has a passion for young people becoming followers of Christ. He has felt God calling him to this position.
